Helen E. Braciszeski left this earth to be with her Lord on Thursday night, March 20, 2014, at the age of 86. She was a resident of the Bauer House Assisted Living Home in Manistee. Helen was born on June 14, 1927, in Manistee, and was the daughter of the late John and Blanche (Najdowski) Dluzen. Helen married Chester Braciszeski on February 4, 1950, in Manistee, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Chester preceded Helen in death on January 5, 1978.  

Helen enjoyed and loved to be around people all of her life. Most of her working life was centered around serving the public as a cashier and bookkeeper at stores that included A & P, Kroger’s, Schiller’s and Bernie’s IGA. She was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church of Manistee. 

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Braciszeski of Gaastra, Michigan, and by two sons, Jerome Braciszeski of Manistee, and Kevin Braciszeski of Ludington; one grandson, Jeremy Edel of Traverse City; her sister, Virginia Elko of Minneapolis, Minnesota; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive her. 

Helen was also preceded in death by her brother and sister in-law, Anthony and Seraphine Dluzen; her sister and brother in-law, Agnes and Walter Kaczorowski; and by her cousin-sister, Eleanore (Russ) Hilliard; and her cousin-brother, Donald Brown.

Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with the Reverend John McCracken celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. Relatives and friends will pray the Evening Vigil Service at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of leaving for the church at 10:40 a.m.  

Those wishing to remember Helen are asked to make a donation to the Meals on Wheels Program. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
