A man facing criminal sexual conduct and child pornography charges had the case bound over to circuit court after waiving his right to a preliminary exam Wednesday.

Michael James Walworth, 49, of Scottville, waived the preliminary exam.

Walworth was charged two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct during a felony, two felony counts of child abusive commercial activity, two felony counts of using a computer to commit a crime, two felony counts of capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person and two felony counts of possession of child sexually abusive material.

The charges are from a Jan. 1, 2021, incident investigated by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Walworth is being held in the Mason County Jail on a $1 million cash or surety bond.

Previously, the probable cause conference was scheduled for July 27, but it was pushed back to Wednesday because Swanson needed to review evidence in the matter — including material that could only be seen at the sheriff’s office.
