LOGAN TWP. — The Hawley Road Bridge, on Hawley Road between Campbell and Masten roads in Logan Township, was reopened Thursday by the Mason County Road Commission.

According to a release from Mason County Highway Engineer Eric Nelson, the work included removing the original bridge that was built in 1900 and reconditioned in 1973 that was 49 feet in length.

The new bridge was replaced with a 90-foot long bridge that is 31 feet wide that includes a 9-inch concrete deck, according to Nelson.

The project cost more than $1 million and was founded by the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration and the Mason County Road Commission. The work was overseen by Lansing-based Davis Construction.
