Kids at council

Ludington City Councilor Kathy Winczewski and Foster Elementary third-graders discuss the pros and cons of where to go on a vacation, as part of an activity Thursday to learn about the democratic process city council uses to make decisions.

The third-graders sat criss-cross applesauce in the city council chambers, and every hand shot up in the air when Ludington City Councilor Kathy Winczewski asked the kids who wanted to be mayor for the hour.

All of the third-grade classes from Foster Elementary School learned about the basics of democracy Thursday morning at Ludington City Hall. The city has been hosting the activity for about 15 years.
