Thousands of books were distributed throughout the region last week before school children began their Christmas vacation thanks in large part to PoWeR! Book Bags.

Last Thursday, roughly 480 books alone were distributed at Ludington’s Foster Elementary School.

“We’ve been giving to all of the schools in the area,” said Kara Gregory, founder and executive director of the non-profit PoWeR! Book Bags. “We reach children in preschool through the fifth grade. We gave everybody a book before they went away (for vacation).

“We’ll be back in March before spring break, and we’ll do it again before summer break.”
