On Aug. 29, the Michigan Fitness Foundation Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will hold a regional training session at the Mason County District Library in Ludington.

Ludington was chosen this year because of its location, since there’s been more interest in the program in regions around this area, according to Colleen Synk, an operations coordinator with the program.

“There has been some interest in the Safe Routes to School program in the northern west side of the state,” she said. “We wanted a location for that hands-on, in-person, all-day training for those communities that have an interest in the program.”
