Two teenagers were swept off the Ludington North Breakwater Thursday afternoon, according to Ludington Police Chief Mark Barnett.
Barnett said the two visitors to the area — a 15-year-old girl from Noblesville, Indiana, and a 14-year-old girl from Tempe, Arizona — were walking toward the lighthouse despite high water levels at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
“They were out walking with presumably family members,” he said.
A 41-year-old man — also from Noblseville, Indiana — helped pull them out of the water, according to Barnett, and a call was made to emergency medical responders.
“EMS was called. They arrived on scene,” Barnett said. “(The girls) were looked at and they both refused transport to the hospital.”
