Ludington set the world record for the Largest Dessert Party with 1,558 people Saturday afternoon at Rotary Park in Ludington.
“We did it!” said Jen Tooman Downtown Development Authority (DDA) communication and marketing director.
Micheal Empric, adjucator for Guinness World Records from New York announced the news to the crowd.
People from Michigan and surrounding states ate a dessert in 15 minutes.
Sixty volunteers assisted with the event and 20 local businesses provided different desserts.
“We appreciate the help and support,” said Kaley Peterson, director of the Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Foundation.
The old record was set in India in 2016 with 1,445 people.
Many participants expressed how great of a community event this was put on by downtown Ludington.
