The Pere Marquette River is closed from the Walhalla boat launch to Indian Bridge because there are no safe, legal take-outs along that stretch of the river due to already high water combined with more expected rain, according to a press release from the Huron-Manistee National Forest.

That stretch of the river will remain closed until waters return to a safe level.

River users may put in at Upper Branch, provided that they take out at the Walhalla boat launch.

The other segments of the Pere Marquette River remain open to use, but people are encouraged to exercise caution due to the high water level.
