Mona Shores went 1-2 at the Ludington Invitational Friday afternoon with the host Orioles finishing third and Pentwater fourth at blustery Lincoln Hills Golf Club in Ludington.

The Sailors’ “A” team won the tournament with a score of 329. The Sailors’ “B” team finished with a score of 345.

Ludington’s “A” team scored a 351 to finish third, and Pentwater was fourth with a 358. Manistee Catholic shot a 386 for 10th, Ludington’s “B” scored a 432 for 13th and Hart shot a 514 for 15th.

“It was windy the entire day. It did affect, obviously, scores. It affected comfort,” Ludington coach Todd Schipper said. “It wasn’t (like) a year ago, but it was windy. Finishing third is a bummer, but this year isn’t as frustrating in the regard to we lost to Mona Shores.

“They were the team to beat coming in here, and I knew they were deep,” he continued. “I knew it was going to be difficult. When you break it down, this is a Division 1 school. We finished in third place and played really well. I had four scores in the 80s where there were only two scores in the 70s. A lot of other teams had big scores elsewhere.”
