MANISTEE — Soothingly accentuated with a friendly, familiar voice, history was embraced with handshakes, hugs, smiles and laughs in Manistee Tuesday.

Manistee High School and Interlochen Center for the Arts graduate Toni Trucks, who plays the regular character Lisa Davis on the CBS military drama “SEAL Team,” was the keynote speaker at a dedication ceremony of Manistee Historic Sites Tours, held at the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts, formerly the Ramsdell Theatre.

A lifelong community activist and proponent of maintaining historical integrity in Manistee County, Trucks lent her voice to narrate an insightful series of short videos that highlight the history of the area.

The videos cover eight themes and more than 100 historical sites including churches, buildings in the downtown commercial district, destination sites, east homes, west homes, industrial sites, museums and riverwalk sites.

The project to produce the videos was supported by a $50,000 grant from the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, and $70,000 from the Manistee County Visitors Bureau (MCVB), the latter being the brainchild of the project, and includes an accompanying guide book, map and mobile app with links to videos and images on the MCVB website.

The Manistee County Historical Museum (MCHM) provided extensive research and developmental support.
