A motorist attempting to flee an Oceana County Sheriff’s Deputy failed to negotiate the roadway early Sunday morning, Sept. 24 sending the vehicle into Pentwater Lake.
According to Oceana County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Shane Hasty, the yet-to-be named motorist “vaulted” the vehicle into the lake at the intersection of Monroe and Longbridge roads in Pentwater Township shortly after 12:30 a.m.
“The driver fled the scene but was later located and arrested for the Flee and Elude,” Hasty said. Adding that other charges are expected when results are received.
Assisting at the scene were Michigan State Police, Pentwater Township Fire and Rescue, Oceana EMS and Oceana County Sheriff’s Reserves.
