Friends of the Shelby Area District Library will meet Thursday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. to discuss fundraising ideas. All who share a love for the SADL and want to help support it are invited to attend and contribute suggestions. Refreshments will be served to celebrate National Friends of the Library week.

Plans are also underway for the Celebration of the Trees silent auction and Christmas Bazaar, scheduled for Nov. 30-Dec. 3 at the Shelby library, 189 Maple St., in Shelby.

Many volunteers are needed to decorate trees, wreaths, donate items for the auction and bazaar, set up the displays and more.

This annual community event showcases local talent with holiday music, inspired Christmas decorations, homemade cookies and more. If you would like to contribute, the friends group needs you.

Donations of new or gently used holiday decorations are being accepted at the library now through Nov. 27.  Decorate a tree, wreath or create your own unique holiday item to be auctioned off at this fundraiser. More information regarding opportunities to volunteer for this fundraiser will be discussed at the Oct. 12 meeting or contact Friends of SADL President Cindy McKinnon at 231-861-6453 for more details.
