The third time was the charm for Leavitt Township resident Allen Purdy in his efforts to recall township Treasurer David Kruppe.
The Oceana County Election Commission approved the recall petition language following a clarity hearing in Hart May 11. Purdy will have until Aug. 3 to collect 50 signatures to have the recall request placed on the November ballot. Kruppe was not present at the hearing.
The recall petition language reads, “David made a motion at the February 2018 meeting of Leavitt Township to leave the Walkerville Fire and Rescue — failed 4 to 1. At the March 2018 meeting he (David) made the motion again to dissolve the W.A.F.R., motion died from lack of support. Later that same meeting, it was found that he (David) was still corresponding with some Colfax and Elbridge Twp. board members to dissolve W.A.F.R. without the knowledge or approval of Leavitt Twp. board members.”
