The 2021 Oceana County Virtual Student Art Show, sponsored by the Pentwater Arts Council, took place from Friday morning, May 14 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Student work was viewed and the community voted for their favorite pieces at the PAC website, pentwaterartscouncil.org .

Two types of prizes were awarded, with the People’s Choice Awards determined by popular vote. The winners will each receive a $50 prize in six categories. Winners include: Elementary 2-Dimensional, Stella Bouye, Pentwater School; Elementary 3-Dimensional, Jocelyn Rodriguez,Walkerville Elementary; Middle School 2-Dimensional, Lilly Hopkins, Hart Middle School; Middle School 3-Dimensional, Natalie Payne, Pentwater School; High School 2-Dimensional, Jocelyn Richison, Pentwater High School; and High School 3-Dimensional, Haley Powers, Pentwater High School.

Juried prizes were determined by these local professional artists: Deborah Clark, Dorothy LaBay and Sheila Preston. In each of the categories prizes will be given in the amounts of $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place, for a total of 18 prizes.

The winners for the juried prizes are the following:

Elementary 2-Dimensional: first place, Allie Fatura, Pentwater School; second place, Karina Olivarez, Pentwater School; and third place, Hannah McClintic, Oceana Christian.

Elementary 3-Dimensional: first place, Serenity Boswell, Walkerville Elementary; second place, Sydney Bateson, Pentwater Elementary; and third place, Easton Flanery, Walkerville Elementary.

Middle School 2-Dimensional: first place, Lilly Hopkins, Hart Middle School; second place, Jack Slotman, Hart Middle School; and third place, Belle Powers, Pentwater School.

Middle School 3-Dimensional: first place, Natalie Payne, Pentwater School; second place, Lilly Hopkins, Hart Middle School; and third place, Ali Fleming, Pentwater School.

High School 2-Dimensional: first place, Gladys Rosas, Shelby High School; second place, Brandon Rabe, Shelby High School; and third place, Nicole Daniels, Pentwater High School, $25.

High School 3-Dimensional: first place, Haley Powers, Pentwater High School; second place, Drew Kolenda, Pentwater School; and third place, Avery Ramseyer, Hart High School.

The Best in Show artist is Lilly Hopkins from Hart Middle School, and that art department will receive $500.
