MONTAGUE — Shelby knows it has a great defense, having returned several all-state level talents at the back end. Wednesday, the Tigers showed they can score a little, too.

HART — Hart stormed out to a two-goal lead at halftime of Wednesday's West Michigan Conference clash against Ravenna, but allowed three unanswered goals in the second half and dropped a 4-3 decision.

PENTWATER — Pentwater finally opened its soccer season Tuesday against Newaygo. The Falcons played a solid second half, but lost to the Lions 5-0.

SHELBY — Despite not allowing a shot on goal all game long, the Shelby Tigers had to settle for a 0-0 tie with Oakridge Monday in their season opener.

WHITEHALL — Hart dropped an 8-0 decision Monday at Whitehall, dropping to 0-2 on the season and 0-2 in the West Michigan Conference.

Hart hopes to make the uphill climb needed to compete in the West Michigan Conference, but if the Pirates are able to do it this year, new faces will have to have a lot to say about it.

Shelby had a strong first season under head coach Jairo Coronado last season, making the district finals, and despite losing some huge pieces from that squad, the Tigers hope to have another good run in year two.
