SHELBY — It wasn’t always smooth over the past two years when senior twin sisters Daphne and Kaylynn Clark served as the Shelby battery, with Daphne pitching and Kaylynn catching.
MUSKEGON — Shelby’s Kaylynn Clark scored the winning run in last Tuesday’s Next Level All-Star softball game at Oakridge, giving her Blue team a 4-3 win over the Red team.
A strong group of athletes earned postseason recognition in softball this season in Oceana County.

CLARE — In just the second regional appearance in the history of the Hart softball program, the typically strong Pirates had several errors in the bottom of the sixth inning and the regional semifinal got away from them, losing to Evart, 8-1, to end a very successful 2022 softball season.
HOLTON — Pentwater’s season came to a close with a 6-3 loss to Lake Leelanau St. Mary in Saturday’s regional semifinal, but head coach Steve Rossiter may question what could have been after a controversial call that ended a momentous first inning.
Hart didn’t require any drama Saturday in repeating as district champions, routing Manistee 15-4 in the finals after an 18-8 win over Mason County Central in the semis.
HOLTON — Even Pentwater’s own team might have been wondering when the other shoe would drop early in Friday’s district title game against #3 Holton, a program with banners galore hanging in its outfield celebrating successes of the past decade.
HESPERIA — Hart wasn’t thrilled with giving up three seventh-inning runs to Hesperia in Tuesday’s pre-district game, falling behind by one. However, the Pirates knew they had the right batters coming up in the bottom of the inning to provide an answer.
Hesperia salvaged a split of Wednesday's Central State Activities Association Silver finale against White Cloud by hanging on for a 7-6 win in game two. The visiting Indians won game one 16-1.
