August 19, 2019 -- Building on the success of the 2018 event, the 2019 Mackinac Bridge Annual Walk on Sept. 2 will again allow participants to start from St. Ignace or Mackinaw City, walking half the bridge and back, the entire length, or even crossing it twice.
LANSING – Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson today announced the formation of a Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force and requested students to apply to serve as members. The task force will make recommendations for improving voter engagement among college students.

MONTAGUE – Started by Montague High School seniors Clay Jancek and Chase Peterson, the Shoreline Guardians is a new organization that focuses on shoreline clean up around Lake Michigan.
MUSKEGON COUNTY – There are 25 different species of sturgeon in the world. The kind that reside in Lake Michigan are the lake sturgeon, sometimes known as the rock sturgeon.
MONTAGUE – At an Aug. 5 work session meeting the City of Montague board gave their approval to begin looking into potential waste hauling services that could potentially be shared with the City of Whitehall.
Richard Doctor, whose 34-year career at Muskegon Community College included his service as a faculty member, department chair, administrator, and leader in the assessment and accreditation process on campus, will posthumously receive the Distinguished Faculty Award from the college.
