Deborah Ann Hunt, 70 years old, of Rockford, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2020, with loved ones by her side.

Debbie was born December 11, 1949, to Leonard and Evelyn Hunt, in Shelby, Michigan. She grew up in Montague and graduated from Montague High School.

Debbie had a successful teaching career and coaching career. She started in Fremont, MI where she taught in the junior high school and coached at the high school. Her team won a girls basketball state championship. She also was instrumental in coaching several girls to qualify for the state competition in track and field. For her efforts she was named Coach of the Year by the Detroit Free Press. Debbie then continued her coaching career at Ferris State College and Western Michigan University as the Head Track and Field/Cross Country coach. She then accepted the assistant principal position at Lincoln Consolidated schools in Ypsilanti, MI. She then became the assistant principal in the Rockford school system.

Debbie’s greatest gift was her welcoming personality and everyone she met was touched by her kindness. Debbie enjoyed the outdoors and she was an avid gardener. She was the president of the Dirt Dauber Garden Club in the White Lake area. Debbie lived life to the fullest and had so many hobbies, including picking mushrooms, hiking, photography,\ traveling, riding horses and swimming in Lake Michigan. Her specialty was making a great dinner for friends and topping it off with her homemade cordial.

Debbie is survived by her loving dear friend Catherine Stevens and her sister, Lori Hunt. Special thanks to her caregivers Donna Host, Johnnie Crebessa and the “village people” who all provided support during this difficult past year. Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 28 at 11am. The memorial will take place in the gardens that Debbie so enjoyed creating, at 6880 Sunrise Meadows, NE, Rockford, MI. Please dress casually and face masks are required.
