A “Bomb Cyclone” wind event which swept across Michigan last Sunday (Feb. 24), bringing with it wind gusts up to 57 mph in the Muskegon area, knocked out power to about 130,000 Consumers Energy customers statewide, and resulted in limited damage in the White Lake area. At right, one Whitehall homeowner lost a garage roof which was blown onto the driveway at 1603 W. Collier Drive. The house and garage sits on top of a bluff overlooking White Lake. Below, tree limbs hang on power lines on S. Mears Ave. at Benston Rd. in Whitehall, a remnant of recent ice and wind damage which caused power outages in the area. Repair crews from neighboring states helped Consumers Energy workers restore power to most customers by Monday night.
