It was a largely successful soccer season in the White Lake area, and with the wins came a large amount of all-conference honors. Eight players claimed first team honors, including four from Whitehall.
GRAND RAPIDS — Reeths-Puffer played a tough, gritty game Wednesday in the Division 2 regional semifinal against #5-ranked Byron Center, and but for one set piece by the Bulldogs, might have gotten it to overtime.
ALLENDALE — Three years after winning its first district title ever by shootout, Reeths-Puffer followed the same script last Saturday to pull a 2-1 upset of Division 2 13th-ranked Spring Lake and claim its third crown in four years.
MUSKEGON — Reeths-Puffer and Whitehall played a thrilling district semifinal game Tuesday night at R-P, and just one goal proved the decisive one.
WHITEHALL — Whitehall continued its domination of the rivalry game with Montague Tuesday night, downing the Wildcats 7-0.
MONTAGUE — Montague seemed to have Tri-County right where it wanted the Vikings at halftime of Wednesday’s pre-district soccer game at Montague. The Wildcats had scored in the first two minutes on a quick goal by Brenden Mahoney, and were deadlocked at halftime.
MUSKEGON — Reeths-Puffer likes to say it plays its best soccer in October. Thursday night’s battle with O-K Black Conference foe Jenison went a long way in confirming that.
MONTAGUE — Montague controlled Monday’s contest against Pentwater and won the game by mercy rule, 10-2, but Wildcats’ coach Brandon Mahoney said afterward that his team is still working on developing a killer instinct.
For the first time ever, this Sunday will see an MHSAA team district (besides lacrosse) be seeded, as boys soccer bracket day is scheduled for that day.
MUSKEGON — Whitehall fell short of an upset in Tuesday’s battle of West Michigan Conference leaders at North Muskegon. The Norsemen earned a 4-0 victory.
